Laura & Jeremy were married at the Registrars Office on George IVth Bridge on Saturday 14th May 2011. The ceremony was lovely and after it we went outside for photographs. Having the luxury of St Giles Cathederal on hand was extremely handy!
We then went to Our Dynamic Earth for the Wedding Breakfast and Reception.
Great photographs and great evening.
Thank you to Laura & Jeremy for making us part of their special day.

May 28th, 2011Ashley & Craig – Houston House Hotel
May 28th, 2011Next was a visit to Ashley’s room at the hotel. from hair and make up to getting the dress on. Lots and lots going on which was great for us!
Outside in the garden the guests were waiting for the Bride to arrive. Ashley looked beautiful as she was piped down the aisle. Craig was extremely pleased as a big smile came to his face!
The ceremony was conducted beautifully and after a short ceremony – we had our new Mr and Mrs Kidd.
We then took lots of photographs with all the guests and awaited the Wedding Breakfast. Giovanni from the hotel called us in to the room which was set up exactly as the couple had wanted. We then went straight to the speeches and quite hilarious they were too!
Then the food was served and we could tell that everyone was thoroughly enjoying it – a great tribute to the hotel chefs.
After the meal, the evening guest arrived and the disco started up followed by the band, they were both excellent.
Time then for us to upload the photos of the day and burn the disks for the happy couple. Once we handed the disks over we said our goodbyes and made our way home.
Thank you to Ashley & Craig for inviting us to be part of their big day and also to the Houston House Hotel for their management of the day.
Apologies
May 28th, 2011Sorry for not keeping my blog updated folks, I have been extremely busy (no excuse I know). I will try and update as soon as possible.
Ailsa Leitch & Darran Butler
May 10th, 2011Ailsa & Darran were married on Saturday 30th April 2011 and what a fantastic day it was! Ailsa got ready at her parents house where we took some preparation photographs – these were an added bonus as they were fun and relaxed. Ailsa looked beautiful in her dress and a very proud mum and dad watched her having her photographs taken in the garden. Then on to Surgeon’s Hall on Nicolson Street in Edinburgh. The grand building looked quite magnificent in the sunshine, the staff had obviously been hard at work making sure that everything was in order for the Brides big day! The Main Hall is possibly one of the nicest rooms in Edinburgh to get married in – well worth a look. I do have to say that The Events Team (Rory) and Senior College Officer (David Morcom) were on hand to direct operations (no pun intended). The ceremony was in the Main Hall and straight after that, the guests were allowed access to the Royal College’s World famous Museum!!!! A few ventured in and were delighted with the welcome from Dr Alan McHail who showed them around and answered any questions that they had. Ailsa & Darran were taken into the College’s gardens for photographs against the backdrop of the famous Playfair building. Some posed shots, lots of relaxed shots too and a fantastic location to do the photography. While we were out enjoying the sunshine the staff of the College and the team from Heritage Portfolio changed the room around for the Wedding Breakfast. Heritage Portfolio provided and excellent service and as always their staff were on hand to manage any little problems that may crop up. A big thank you to them for looking after myself and my staff during the day. After the wedding Breakfast we went to The Quincentenary Hall for the evening’s entertainment, another great space the College has for all kinds of events. The Cake cutting took place and Ailsa and Darran stepped out onto the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple, they were then joined by their parents and the bridal party, lots of fantastic photographs were taken and everyone looked as though they were having a ball! A big thank you to all the staff at Surgeon’s Hall and of course Heritage Portfolio the fantastic caterers and huge Thank you to Ailsa & Darran for booking me to look after their wedding day photography.
Kelly & Euan’s Wedding
May 10th, 2011On Friday 29th April 2011 there was a very special wedding! No not the Royal Wedding, it was Kelly and Euan getting married. They were married at The Botanic Gardends in Edinburgh with pre wedding photos at the Brides parents house in Dunbar. The weather was great and the day went without a hitch. The Botanics staff looked after the guests and myself and my staff very well indeed. After the ceremony we wandered around the gardens and took some casual and posed shots of the couple and their families. A good mixture of Wedding Portraits and relaxed fun shots, just what the couple had asked for. We then went over to the Queen Charlotte Rooms in Leith. Again the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The Wedding Breakfast was excellent and the evenings disco was great with people up dancing the night away! A big thank you to all for looking after us so well and a very big thank you to Kelly and Euan for booking Wedding Photos Edinburgh for their big day.
Dream Day Flowers
April 26th, 20111. Tell us about how you got started.
I have been a Florist for over 10 years. After returning from living in America for 2 years I decided I would like to offer a more personal service to Brides, and specialise in Wedding and Events only, working from home.
2. What can you offer our brides to be?
I offer a completely personal service. Bespoke wedding flowers, specific to each Bride. I talk the brides and their families and help guide them through every step of choosing their flowers, including advice on seasonal flowers and budget advice.
3. What makes you different from your competitors?
I think my personal service sets me aside from my competitors. As I specialise in Weddings and Events I am totally focused on details. I invite the Brides and their families to my home and discuss their wedding flowers over coffee in a relaxed environment.
4. What do you enjoy most about your job?
Being a florist has many things that make me glad that I do it. The top reason I feel is the smiles that I get when people see their Bouquet for the first time. I have enjoyed being a part of peoples Dream Day…..
5. What inspires you?
Inspiration for me comes from many places. Firstly I need to listen to my brides themes and dreams; this can bring some amazing designs together. I think the next inspiration for bridal bouquets will come from Kate Middleton; Royal weddings often start a trend.
I have been very lucky to work in America with some of the top Florists. They inspired me daily to think I can do anything.
6. Can you tell us about a memorable wedding or event you have provided flowers for?
Whilst working in America I was lucky enough to work on 2 amazing Gala events. Aretha Franklin and Debbie Harry were at these events. These were large spectacular events with 130 tables and many large displays of flowers.
All of my weddings that I have worked on have been special, and I have lots of wonderful memories of them.
7. Can you provide a price guide for your flowers?
I can supply a price guide for my flowers, although it is only a guide. Every wedding is bespoke, so the price is specific to each Bride and their needs.
8. What does the future hold for Dream Day Flowers?
This year has turned out to be wonderful for Dream Day Flowers; I am hoping this continues for the future. I am exhibiting at Bridal shows this year.
Lomond Park Hotel 5th June 2012
Duck Bay Marina 14th June 2012
9. Any last tips for our readers?
When planning your wedding flowers try to buy seasonal, this can keep prices down. The Brides bouquet should be the flowers she has ever dreamt of and that she wants to carry down the aisle.
For table decorations think about whether you want a low or high table arrangement. A mid height arrangement can often block peoples eye line, and then can often be moved.
Also have a price range for each table you would like to spend, it gives your florist an idea of what sort of flowers they can offer you.
If you are thinking of having candles at your wedding, please check if your venue allows naked flame. Many venues no longer do, that’s why I now can loan wonderful battery operated candles.

Kelly Sives & Euan Brunton
April 23rd, 2011I was at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh today for a run through of the photo ops for Kelly & Euan’s Wedding Day. Great location, unfortunately the weather wasn’t too kind to us but we managed. Kelly & Euan are getting married on the same day as William & Kate – I’m sure they will remember their own wedding date without any assistance.
Ailsa & Darran
April 23rd, 2011I was at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh on Friday evening to run through the wedding of Ailsa Leitch & Darran Butler. What a fantastic venue it is and the staff were a great help, especially Rory from the events team! Looking forward to Saturday the 30th and getting the chance to take some great photos.
